What is Captopril?
Captopril medication is commonly available as Capoten in the market. This drug blocks the conversion of angiotensin II from angiotensin I and indirectly helps increase sodium retention from the kidneys. The combined effect reduces blood pressure by dilating the blood vessels and eventually reducing the workload on the heart.
Capoten dosage will depend on the condition of the patient. It is available as 25 mg and also 50 mg tablets. Sticking to the prescribed dose is essential to avoid any adverse effects.
