Why California residents choose Your Doctors Online
Getting a same-day doctor's appointment in California is hard. Primary-care waitlists run weeks in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. Most urgent-care clinics close at night. About 1.2 million Californians are eligible for health coverage but still uninsured. Here's how we work around that.
24/7 care, built for California hours
California is three time zones away from the rest of the country and runs on shift work. Our doctors are on every night, weekend, and holiday. If your child spikes a fever at 2 a.m. in San Diego or a UTI suddenly flares up on a Sunday in Sacramento, you can connect with a California online doctor within minutes.
Prescriptions to any California pharmacy
CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Vons, Ralphs, Safeway, Costco, or an independent pharmacy near you. Your prescription goes wherever you actually fill it. Under California's AB 2789, prescriptions in California are sent electronically by default, so there's nothing to print, fax, or hand over.
No commute, no PTO, no waiting room
A walk-in visit in LA or San Francisco eats half a day once you factor in traffic, the wait, and the trip back. A telehealth visit requires no travel and runs 10 to 20 minutes from your apartment, office, or hotel if you're traveling.
Care from anywhere in California
You're covered in Echo Park, the Inland Empire, the Central Valley, and everywhere in between. Anyone physically in California at the time of the visit can get virtual care.
Conditions we treat online in California
We make it easier to get care through telehealth visits in California for a wide range of everyday health concerns. The list below groups the most common things we provide virtual care for.
Urgent care
Feeling under the weather? We can help with common illnesses, such as cold and flu, COVID-19 symptoms, sinus infections, antibiotics for ear infections, sore throat, strep throat, UTIs, pink eye, allergic reactions, and mild rashes.
Chronic care
You can manage chronic conditions without losing your weekend to a clinic. Get care for diabetes monitoring, blood pressure follow-ups, asthma refills, and cholesterol checks.
Mental health support
We offer mental health counseling for ADHD, anxiety, depression, stress, grief, insomnia, and more.
Skin concerns
Get online prescriptions for several skin concerns. We can help you get rid of contact dermatitis fast, overcome acne breakouts, manage eczema flare-ups, and other skin infections.
Sexual and reproductive health
We can help treat yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, and erectile dysfunction, and provide guidance on STI screening. You can also get prescriptions for Cialis, birth control, and other common medications without having to make an in-person trip.
What we can't treat online, and where to go instead
Telehealth is an effective option for many non-emergency conditions, but some health concerns still require in-person or emergency care. Call 911 or go to the nearest ER if you have:
Call 911 or go to your nearest ER
- Chest pain
- Trouble breathing
- Signs of stroke (slurred speech, one-sided weakness)
- Severe injuries or bleeding
- Sudden severe abdominal pain
- Thoughts of self-harm
We don't fill California Workers' Compensation claim forms or return-to-work clearances after surgery either. For those, we'll refer you to an in-person provider.
Telehealth costs in California, with or without insurance
Telemedicine visits in California are usually billed per visit by other platforms, but Your Doctors Online offers a $20-per-month subscription plan. It includes unlimited online doctor consultations, prescriptions, sick notes, and more. There are no per-visit fees, no copays, and no deductibles to meet first.
Talk to a doctorFlat-rate vs. insurance-based telehealth in California:

Flat fee · no insurance needed
Insurance-based telehealth
Plus copays, deductibles, surprise bills
No insurance required
You don't need insurance to use Your Doctors Online. If you do, California's parity law AB 744 requires commercial plans and health care service plans to cover telehealth on the same basis as in-person care, with the same deductibles and dollar maximums.

What patients in California are saying
I was surprised because I had tried this app out before and the doctor wouldn't prescibe me medication(birth control) for the first time because I was having issues with my cycle. I tried it again months later and the doctor I was chatting with put me on a 28 day pack of birth control. I was shocked that it worked this time and it was easy. I have to follow up after the 28 days but lord knows I can't afford this app so im hoping my real family doctor can get me refills if this works.

As described. Great for those without insurance or if you're just sick of the traditional US model of care. Edit: Ignore the reviews complaining bout price. If you read the details of the sub, the fee structure is clearly stated. I paid $75 for the qtr and have had several chat consults and multiple labs. The conditions they treat are the same as any virtual visit with a normal Dr, it has nothing to do with them being local or not.!!

I was incredibly ill and reached out to your doctor to get a script for anti biotics. Due to my symptoms being so severe the first dr told me to go to the ER however, my insurance didn't cover the visit so I reached out again asking for anything to help me over come what I had at home and that it was a last resort. The 2nd dr I spoke to again said that I should visit the ER, and when I explained my situation prescribed me a week's worth of antibiotics and I was able to go into the pharmacy to get them. The experience was good and I would definitely recommend this app and service to anyone.

YourDoctors definitely beats sitting in outpatients for hours upon hours! I just submitted my symptoms and went about my life until I got a message asking me to return to the app for a consultation. Dr. Ahmed Kamal was pleasant, competent, and even wished me a happy birthday. He faxed my prescription so that the pharmacy has it when they open. Highly recommend!

Amazing medical app with followup requests from the doctors you speak to. They recommended when we should go to the hospital for birth aswell as the correct diagnosis of an infection. Overall fantastic.

Frequently asked questions
Are your doctors licensed in California?
Yes, all physicians on Your Doctors Online are board-certified doctors registered to practice telehealth in California under the California Medical Board. California Business and Professions Code §2290.5 requires every physician seeing a California-located patient by telehealth to hold a current California license, and our doctors meet that requirement.
Can telehealth prescribe antibiotics in California?
Yes, an online doctor in California can prescribe antibiotics when the visit confirms a bacterial infection. The most common cases are UTIs, strep throat, sinus infections, ear infections, and skin infections. Your prescription is sent directly to your preferred California pharmacy under the state’s electronic-prescribing rule. We don’t prescribe antibiotics for colds, flu, or other viral infections, because antibiotics don’t treat viruses.
How much does a telehealth visit cost without insurance in California?
A telehealth visit in California through Your Doctors Online costs $20 per month for unlimited visits, with no per-visit fees, copays, or deductibles. By comparison, other US virtual platforms charge $89 to $149 per visit out of pocket. With most California-regulated insurance plans, telehealth is reimbursed at the same rate as an in-person visit under AB 744.
Is telehealth covered by Medi-Cal?
Yes. Medi-Cal covers telehealth services delivered through video visits, audio, and text chat. Your Doctors Online is a self-pay flat-rate platform, so we don’t bill Medi-Cal directly. If you have Medi-Cal but can’t reach your assigned primary-care provider, our $20/month plan is a same-day alternative for non-emergency care.
Can I get a telehealth visit for a UTI in California?
Yes, you can get a telehealth visit for a UTI in California with Your Doctora Online. Our online doctor will ask about your symptoms (burning urination, frequency, urgency, lower-back or pelvic pain, blood in the urine), review your history, and prescribe an antibiotic for UTI when appropriate. The prescription is sent to a local pharmacy near you, often within minutes.
Can telehealth prescribe blood pressure medication in California?
Yes. After reviewing your readings and history, a California online doctor can prescribe or refill most blood pressure medications, such as ACE inhibitors, ARBs, calcium channel blockers, beta blockers, and thiazide diuretics. Stable patients on an existing regimen are usually the fastest cases. If your readings are dangerously high or you have new symptoms (chest pain, shortness of breath, severe headache), you’ll be directed to in-person care.
Can telehealth prescribe birth control in California?
Yes, telehealth in California can prescribe or refill birth control, including most combined oral contraceptives, progestin-only pills, the patch, the ring, and emergency contraception. We can’t insert IUDs or implants. Those require an in-person provider.
Is a telehealth prescription valid at California pharmacies?
Yes, a prescription issued by a California-licensed physician through telehealth carries the same legal weight as one written in a clinic. Under California’s AB 2789, prescriptions in the state are sent electronically by default, so your CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Vons, Ralphs, Safeway, or independent pharmacy will receive it directly.
Can I see a California online doctor without insurance?
Yes. Your Doctors Online doesn’t require insurance. The flat $20/month plan covers unlimited visits for one person across chat, phone, and video, for any non-emergency condition listed above. You pay separately for any prescription you fill at the pharmacy, but the visit itself is included in your subscription. This is the cheapest published self-pay rate among major California telehealth platforms.
