Game changer! The doctors/nutritionist here have been truly helpful without a doubt. They are the only doctors I’ve seen for my specific concern who actually make me feel heard, I feel they are legitimately compassionate and I’m extremely thankful. 5 stars isn’t enough.

Sarah is amazing. I have lost 25lbs. She does not act like my health concerns are all in my head. She truly listens and answers all questions. I've had a reduction on many symptoms that I have including chronic migraines and she will continue to work with me to get the rest under control. Excellent nutrition program they are offering.

I have a nutritionist, Sarah Sumbal and it has been amazing. She is very helpful, kind, patient, very knowledgeable and professional. Always listens and considers my needs versus the traditional straight forward consulting. Always keeps in mind the foods I actually can eat and what is available to me. It has been great, I would recommend her to anyone anytime.

First of all, I'd like to start off this review by being completely honest. Like a few others in the comment section, I'd also subscribed for the yearly membership at Your Doctors Online mistakenly thinking I would only be charged $20 a month but was charged $240 up front instead (with no option to switch or cancel plan until next year) so initially felt quite upset and skeptical about my choice. Nonetheless, I decided to still give the app a try and here I am now. It has been about two months for me on this platform but so far my experience with it has been quite satisfactory. All the prescription slips, lab requisitions and medical leaves are offered free of cost after consultations, as part of the yearly plan and you'd only be paying out of pocket for any medications or lab reports you agree to receive, which I find quite fair. Not to mention, the added convenience one has of having easy access to the services at any time of the day. The Customer Support Team has also been very helpful by swiftly resolving any issues that arose and was able to get back to me within minutes of making a request. \n\nWhat I like most about the app so far, however, is the Pilot Program being offered under the yearly membership, which provides the user free one-on-one virtual counseling sessions related to both Nutrition and Mental Health. As for how that went, most of the problems and symptoms I was experiencing were addressed by Nutritionist, Dr. Sarah in the first appointment itself, and a diet plan was introduced right away with follow-up sessions in to track my progress.

Frequently asked questions
Is online nutrition counseling legitimate?
Yes. Online nutrition counseling is a legitimate form of care delivered through secure telehealth platforms. It’s important to choose a trusted provider that adheres to the HIPAA standard of care to ensure high-quality care. When delivered by qualified professionals, online nutrition support can be just as effective as traditional care.
What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?
Both terms are used interchangeably. While all dietitians are nutritionists, not all nutritionists are dietitians. A dietitian is a regulated healthcare professional in the U.S., while the term nutritionist is not regulated in all regions. This means dietitians must meet strict licensing and education standards, whereas nutritionists’ qualifications can vary. Both dietitians and nutritionists can provide personalized diet plans and support you on your weight loss journey.
Can an online nutritionist help with IBS?
Yes. An online nutritionist can help identify trigger foods, improve digestion, and reduce bloating or discomfort. For example, someone with IBS may learn how certain foods or eating patterns affect their symptoms and adjust accordingly. Guidance is personalized and designed to be practical for daily life.
Can I get a nutrition plan for PCOS online?
Yes, you can get a nutrition plan to help improve insulin resistance, delayed periods, weight changes, and other symptoms of PCOS. Your nutritionist will help you structure meals tailored to your lifestyle to support hormone balance and reduce symptoms.
How can I consult a nutritionist for weight loss?
In a one-on-one online nutrition consultation, your nutritionist will:
- Create a personalized weight loss plan tailored to your health, medications, and dietary preferences.
- Show you how to use nutrition to manage medical conditions
- Teach you practical strategies for meal planning, healthy habits, and managing stress eating.
- Your plan will be safe, realistic, and made for long-term success.
- If you need a prescription, you can talk to a doctor online today
Do you specialize in any dietary approaches?
Yes. Our nutritionists support a wide range of needs, including weight loss, diabetes, hormonal health (like PCOS), and digestive conditions such as IBS. For example, someone with IBS may receive guidance on trigger foods and meal timing, while someone with diabetes may focus on balanced meals and blood sugar control. Each nutrition consultation is personalized rather than one-size-fits-all.
How much does an online nutritionist cost?
At Your Doctors Online, we offer flat, affordable rates for consulting a nutritionist. You can subscribe to our monthly, quarterly, or annual plans and get diverse online healthcare services throughout the year. Moreover, a family sharing plan allows up to four members to access a nutritionist under one subscription.
Is it worth paying for a nutritionist?
Yes, investing in a nutritionist can help you achieve your health goals faster. If you’re managing a chronic condition, the right diet and lifestyle changes make a big difference. Investing in a nutritionist saves time, avoids guesswork, and gives you a plan that actually works. Even if you can’t see one in person, you can connect with an online nutritionist through our telehealth platform.
How are sessions conducted?
The online nutritionist consultations are conducted via chat, audio, or video calls. All you need is the Your Doctors Online application downloaded on your Android or iOS device.
When should I consult a nutritionist?
You can consult a nutritionist if you need help with weight loss, diabetes, digestive issues, or improving overall eating habits. For example, if you feel tired after meals, struggle with bloating, need help during pregnancy, or want to manage cholesterol, nutrition guidance can help. Early support often prevents bigger health issues later.
Can I get blood work and medications?
If you need blood test requisitions or medications for chronic disease management, including obesity, you will have to speak to a licensed physician at Your Doctors Online. Our online doctors are available 24/7.
Does insurance cover online nutritionist consultations?
Although coverage usually depends on your insurance, most insurance companies cover dietitian-led or medically necessary nutrition consults. For example, a patient with diabetes may have coverage under specific plans. It’s best to check directly with your provider for eligibility.
Can an online nutritionist prescribe medication?
No. Nutritionists do not prescribe medications. If your care requires prescriptions, you can consult a licensed physician on Your Doctors Online under the same subscription and get an online prescription when appropriate.
