How Do You Protect Your Skin from the Sun?
- Use Sunscreen
- Avoid Breakouts
- Water-Resistant Sunscreen
- Use Facial Mists
- No More Foundation
Summer is almost upon us and everyone is almost ready for their summer vacations. Most have probably bought pieces of summer outfits. Let us not forget one of the most important things that we should prioritize to continue having fun, skin care.
Also, sun damage to your skin will result in more wrinkles and deeper wrinkles. Sun damage occurs more in people with fair skin, red hair, blue eyes, and freckles.
The following are summer skin care beauty tips that came straight from the dermatologists. These are the beauty tips that they do themselves to prevent sun damage, uneven skin, redness and other skin problems brought about by summer.
1. Preload On Sunscreen
Apply sunscreen on your body every night around two to three weeks before your beach vacation. Summer skin care beauty tips say that the sunscreen will build up in your stratum corneum (the top layer of your skin) and will make your skin less likely to burn.
2. Avoid Breakouts
Make sure your sunscreen label says “oil-free.” Be reminded that sheer doesn’t really mean oil free. This will help you avoid breakouts and keep that pesky adult acne to a minimum.
3. Simplify Your Routine
Stick with the basics that truly help your skin. More products may also expose your skin to more irritants, especially if you have sensitive skin. This will keep your routine time friendly and keep wrinkles at bay! You certainly want your skin as youthful as possible.
4. Avoid The Ashy Look
Most sunscreens look white or ashy on dark skin. This is typically caused by the zinc oxide and the titanium dioxide. Summer skin care beauty tips suggest that you find something that’s specific for brown skin to prevent any ashiness.
5. Go Big At The Beach
For a day at the beach or any outdoor activities, use something that contains chemical sunscreen and zinc oxide. According to summer skin care beauty tips it may be thick and takes a long time to rub in, but you will thank its water-resistant qualities. And since you can feel it in your skin, you know that it’s there protecting you. Use a sunscreen with a 30 SPF. Anything stronger than that does not add much extra protection.
6. Treat Your Sunburns
Get the inflammation down immediately to minimize damage in the skin and to calm the redness. Try soaking a facecloth in a bowl of skim milk and ice and apply it to the area for five to ten minutes. Summer skin care beauty tips recommend that you can also take aspirin, naproxen, or ibuprofen, and apply hydrocortisone cream.
It is very important to start these medications as soon as you know you may be sunburned, so the anti-inflammatory effect starts early. Use 400-500 mg of naproxen or 600 mg of ibuprofen (avoid these medications if you have stomach ulcers and make sure your doctor approves of their use in your case). Take them for just 1-2 days.
7. Spritz On Some Spring Water
The spring water facial mists contain natural minerals that can calm your skin. They may even make you look dewy. And because you lose minerals whenever you sweat, spraying these on your skin will be like Gatorade for your face. Summer skin care beauty tips state that your skin will get an automatic recharging to maintain healthy skin.
8. Peel Twice A Month
To clear up dull and dead skin cells, try an in-office salicylic acid peel for at least twice a month. It will also help even out any skin discoloration, draw excess oil out of your pores, which will leave your skin less shiny.
Summer skin care beauty tips suggest that you can also try getting a superficial chemical peel that’s a combination of trichloroacetic and glycolic or salicylic acid twice every summer. It will help clear out your pores, kill bacteria inside, slow down the oil production, and tightens the look of pores.
9. Use Sulfur To Stop The Shine
Wash your face with a prescription sulfur-based cleanser and follow it with a gel that minimizes flushing and oil production. This way you wouldn’t need any mattifying products at all.
10. Stop Using Foundation
Instead of using foundation, use a daily moisturizer with gradual self-tanner and SPF. It will help give you a natural glow and you’ll look better overall. You will look more fresh and awake.
11. Use A Bronzer
If you want a hint of color you can try a body makeup that could go on like a tinted moisturizer. It will be a good hydrator and the best part of it is it won’t rub off on clothes like other tinted lotions.
12. Stop The Redness
Soak a facecloth in ice water and wrung it out and hold to the neck. It cools the blood that’s flowing to the face and will reduce the redness. Summer skin care beauty tips also state that you should be reminded that severe, recurrent flushing can lead to permanently dilated capillaries on the face.
13. Scrub Often
Your pores will look more obvious in hot and humid weather. Add one extra exfoliation session per week. Use kits that will give you control over the intensity of the exfoliation.
